If your customers have fixed and mobile subscriptions, you need a unified approach to delivering the experiences they expect across all network touchpoints. At the same time, you also need an enriched, consistent data set to leverage AI innovations. How can you secure both? Find out how Ooredoo achieved this with a complete transformation of its analytics capabilities, converging legacy platforms into a new, consolidated solution.

How can you secure a unified view of service performance for your customers?

As an operator, you likely run multiple networks in parallel, perhaps also across different countries. You have fixed broadband and mobile customers, many of whom may have multiple subscriptions to your different offers, across the different networks you maintain.

The traditional approach to network assurance and performance has been to focus on a specific network and the services that it supports, for example, mobile. As a result of this historical approach, however, many operators have multiple assurance solutions that run in parallel – one for the fixed broadband network, another for mobile and so on.

In addition to the operational overhead this creates, this has led to a knowledge gap. That’s because there is limited or no correlation of the customer experience across these silos. While customer network teams could individually track and manage assurance through their dedicated platforms, they could not examine the overall customer experience across all their different network subscriptions. As a result, they lacked the big picture required.

Closing this gap has become imperative. With changing customer expectations and higher-performing services, we need a different, holistic view. This must span all networks and services customers consume, because they really should be considered as entities with multiple subscriptions. We must be able to assure their services individually and also protect any customer’s experience on all touchpoints.

Multiple network and service assurance silos

The problem, of course, with establishing this unified view is that the different systems in each network and the domains of those networks are, well, different. They generate a diverse source of data output – from classical control and user plane information to Performance Management, Fault Management, location data, and so on.

Not only is this data generated in different formats, but there can also be proprietary as well as standardized interfaces – all of which has long been a barrier to the kind of unified view that would allow all networks to be covered from a single platform – and deliver the unified perspective that we need.

DataOps closes the gaps

The answer lies in the integration of Polystar’s Kalix DataOps capabilities with analytics and assurance solutions. Kalix DataOps enables different kinds of data, from different sources and with different formats to be brought together into a single unified resource that can then be processed by the analytics functions.

Recognizing that a new approach to data movement and management is the key to realizing the vision of a new, unified approach to cover all of its networks, Polystar helped Ooredoo to find a solution that leverage DataOps to extend analytics functions to all relevant data sources – from fixed and mobile – to enhance visibility into each of the networks its supports.

Operating across multiple countries, Ooredoo has a diverse service portfolio. With fixed operations, mobile networks and, in some countries, a combination of both, it sought to replace multiple legacy assurance and analytics platforms, from different vendors – and to deploy new, advanced analytics capabilities in a single, unified platform.

The combined platform delivers comprehensive insights from all of the Ooredoo networks in which it is deployed. Insight can be tailored, with the addition of AI‑powered analysis, to meet the specific needs of different user teams across all OpCos in the Group.

Of course, a project of this scope and magnitude must proceed in a phased approach. It was decided by Ooredoo that the ambitious deployment will be delivered in three phases. First, with a fast-tracked rollout that established a scalable analytics foundation across key services, including the operator’s 5G SA investments.

Data unification and enrichment – the foundation of AI

The subsequent phases will expand data integration and enrichment through the new DataOps capabilities for Ooredoo, before leveraging AI and machine learning to support advanced Network Assurance use cases — such as performance optimization, targeted operational efficiency gains, customer experience enhancement, and improved strategic decision-making — throughout the Group’s operations.

The new solution establishes a clear direction of travel. By unifying key analytics systems onto a single platform, Ooredoo has created a strong foundation for insight-driven decision-making across both fixed and mobile networks.

This approach allows it to support the specific needs of each operating company in the group, while scaling advanced analytics and AI use cases in a structured and consistent manner. Users of the new solution can focus on specific network and performance issues and deliver optimized assurance for each – but the combination of data from all networks and domains gives a newly enriched view that spans all subscriber interactions.

Finally, the consistent data fabric provides the foundation for ongoing innovation through AI, because all relevant data is brought together and can be processed by other tools selected by Ooredoo for its transformation program. Put simply, without the inclusion of Kalix DataOps, such a unified view and AI-ready data set would not be possible.
