Itsuma Tanaka is the CEO of DOCOMO Euro-Labs, NTT DOCOMO’s strategic research and innovation hub based in Munich, Germany. He leads global standardisation and innovation efforts in 5G, 6G, network virtualisation, and autonomous networks. With over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Itsuma has built a distinguished career spanning R&D, international telecom business, and human resources. At DOCOMO R&D, he played a pivotal role in advancing 4G and 5G core network standardisation through 3GPP and GSMA. Within the GSMA, he served as Chairman of the IREG Packet Working Group and contributed as an editor to numerous technical guidelines and specifications that underpin today’s mobile services ecosystem. Itsuma holds an MBA from ESADE Business School in Barcelona and a MEng in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College London.
