
Josie Smith
Josie Smith is the Chief Architect for BT Digital and has been with BT since 2017. In her role Josie is responsible for all architecture across the unit including Global, Enterprise , Consumer, Corporate, cloud and digital infrastructure architecture. She is also responsible for core engineering services including engineering productivity tooling, cloud services and core integration platforms.
As part of Josie’s role she is responsible for creating new structures within the business to support and reimagine ways for people to use and interact with BT and its services.
She loves “pushing the limits of technology to change lives and use my ability to think holistically and translate outcomes to create momentum that delivers fantastic customer experiences and drive business growth.”
She has over 27 years’ experience in tech with executive architecture roles at Vodafone, Alere Inc and Cable & Wireless Worldwide. Josie has also worked in various transformation programme & analyst roles in other sectors including Utilities and Legal.
In her role as Head of Enterprise Architecture at Vodafone, she was responsible for delivering alignment and traceability of the Enterprise strategic intent.
Josie sponsors BT’s TechWomen programme and the Gender and Equality Network which encourage more women into BT and creating a more diverse culture. She is a big advocate in supporting careers in our organisation. An ambassador for Women in Tech and inspirational learning in the sciences across all ages to increase the diversity within STEM industries
Josie is one of the only women Chief IT Architect in the FTSE 100 and was recently shortlisted for the Women in Tech Excellence Awards in the category IT Leader of the Year and Digital Leader of the Year: Enterprise.
