He has led the digital transformation of a large Telco that has revenue of over US$ 785Mil with focus on designing and implementing internal digitalization blueprint as well as creating value for customers in Digital space including design IT architecture, select, build, rollout and manage best fit IT enterprise solutions ensuring shortest Time To Market (TTM), optimizing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and delivering Value on Investment.

Umar has experience in creating and leading ground-breaking projects to successful commissioning keeping in view the Green initiative. He is considered a thought leader in various areas including Tier 3 certified data centers, public & Financial Sector (FSI) cloud, information security operations, GRC management, quality assurance, call centre and BPO operations, business operations management and technical operations management. He has been advising at various forums matters related to Cybersecurity as well.

With over 20 years of experience, currently Umar is working as Group EVP and looking after the Data Centre critical infrastructure and IT operations portfolio, where he is leading the strategy, planning, buildout and operations for his vertical. He is responsible for IT Transformation, digitalization and service delivery for internal as well as corporate and enterprise customers. He is currently leading a team of 200+ including directors, senior manager, managers and engineers.

He is among the few IT professionals who have successfully converted the IT function from cost center to revenue center, an undertaking which is now generating USD 70 Million annually in a challenging region. He is also leading Call Centre and BPO operations for PTCL group and where the customer base is local and international ones. He is also leading the initiatives for synergizing IT and Network organization wherever there is potential.
